About 楊靜安

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jingan is a screenwriter, award-winning playwright, editor, journalist, British film history scholar and former fringe theatre producer (Pokfulam Rd Productions). In another life, she was once signed to a Hong Kong record company.

She holds a BA (Hons) in English with Film Studies from King’s College London, a Master of Studies in Creative Writing from the University of Oxford, and a Doctor Of Philosophy in Film Studies from King’s College London. Her book ‘Soho on Screen’ was published in May 2022 by Berghahn Books, with a foreword by Guardian critic Peter Bradshaw.

She is the editor of the first British East Asian play collection published in the UK ‘Foreign Goods’ (Bloomsbury) with a foreword by David Henry Hwang.

She currently lectures at Birkbeck University and King’s College London. She lives in London with her husband and son.
